All Packed . . .

. . and no where to go.

We had planned to go on holiday this week, but due to the Eyjafjallajokull volcano, our plans were canceled.  We were a bit bummed but were holding out hope to the end that we could still make it.  Instead, we have to reschedule.  On the bright side, at least the weather will be warmer when we go.

So, what do you do when you have a Saturday with nothing planned?  We took the kids and headed to the London Temple!

Not to be deceived, the London Temple is actually not in ‘London’, but an hour south of it.

The weather was gorgeous, the grounds were quiet, and we had a great time.  We started out in the Visitor’s Centre where we learned some interesting London Temple facts.  As we were preparing to leave, we had our picture snapped in front of the Christus statue.  I love looking at it – I just feel so loved being in front of it.

A fun fact – this replica of the Christus is 8 feet tall – the same height that the Angel Moroni is on top of the temple.  It just looks so much smaller that far up!

We had a great lunch at an American Western restaurant, where you can actually eat in a ‘jail’ setting.  The kids thought it was cool to get their food with American flags stuck in them.

Our last stop of the day was the LDS Bookstore.  We had heard rumors that they had A&W rootbeer for sale . . . and they were right!  You can’t buy root beer here so we were very excited to stock up on some for root beer floats!  Of course, we had to stock up on some books while we there as well.

What could have been a depressing day (as we counted down where we SHOULD have been hour by hour), turned out to be a great day at the temple!
