It is no secret that Caleb dislikes competitions. If they came around more often and involved more of the team, he may think differently about them. But, because they happen so infrequently, there is quite a build-up for each one, which goes hand in hand with Caleb’s stress level. He was happy to learn that [...]

A year has come and gone since Caleb’s last gymnastics training camp in Bulgaria. This year we had a change of scenery as we went to Girona, Spain. Having learned from last year, a couple moms and I took over the planning of the trip to make sure we had a hotel with a pool, [...]

We’ve lived in the UK for 2 1/2 years now. Caleb has been training at the same gym the entire time. By British Gymnastics ruling, Caleb cannot place in any British Gymnastics competitions, although he is allowed to enter just for the experience. We are told that 3 years is the magic number when that [...]

Last Friday we ventured out to East London (2 hours away) for Caleb’s first gymnastics competition of the year. However, it wasn’t a ‘real’ competition as Caleb isn’t ‘English’ and wouldn’t be able to place. We are still getting used to the British way of doing things. One of the hardest has been the way the British gymnastics does their ‘seasons’. There is no district, state, and then regional competitions. From what we’ve experienced these last 18 months is that Caleb averages two unrelated competitions a year and he’s done. [...]

The London Olympics are almost a year away so promotions for the different events are in full swing. Last week Caleb’s coaches were asked to bring their boys’ team to participate in the gymnastics display in downtown London. The boys were excited and had a great time performing without the stress of a competition. Between [...]

This team has been all the talk at Caleb’s gymnastics club. After they won Britain’s Got Talent this last weekend, they have come to Heathrow Gymnastics to train and prepare for the World Championships. This group is amazing! If you haven’t seen them in action yet, please watch their final performance!
